ELECTRICAL APPRENTICE PROGRAM – Year One Course

The first-year Electrical Apprenticeship course provides foundational knowledge and hands-on practice in electrical systems for residential environments, preparing students to advance in a registered apprenticeship program. The course integrates theory with skills-based training and introduces the 2023 National Electrical Code (NEC), safety procedures, tools, circuit theory, wiring techniques, and blueprint reading.

The course has been approved by the Vermont Electrical Licensing Board and the VTSU apprenticeship program. Students who take this course will be eligible to enroll in year two of the VTSU electrical apprenticeship program.
This is a hybrid course that will meet in person on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and select Saturdays, and will also include an asynchronous online component led by the instructor.

Saturday classes will run from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a half-hour lunch break.
Tuesday and Thursday classes will meet from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Jeremy Roberts is a Master Electrician with over 35 years of experience in residential, commercial, and industrial wiring. He owned and operated his own electrical business for over 25 years before moving into his current role as electrical teacher which he has held for 11 years. Jeremy currently won the Laudamus Verum Magistrum award in recognition of an outstanding teacher who exemplifies the quality of dedication to the profession of teaching, who is a living example for the educational community, and who has given generously to the students of St. Johnsbury Academy. He has also taught the evening apprenticeship program for VTSU for five years and is an OSHA trainer.ÌýÌý
